"I'll quit movin' slow"

New song up by Toy Sails! :)
It's an acoustic demo Mike made today. According to a bulletin posted announcing the new song, "Mike recorded it today as the rain was brewing up in the sky, and as he finished it the sky began to cry..."
Really love the bit towards the end where it was the part from Carnival that I love: "I just want to indulge myself in you. Just to see where it takes me..."

Check it out at their myspace.

"and so it goes

but where it's goin'... no one knows" - nick lowe

Still not sure where this one's goin' but i think you or someone you know could dig it. Thanks go to big mac zach attack for suggesting i start this. This'll probably just be my version of a music journal, i guess, honestly, until i get the hang of blogging shit like this.

so! what i'm listening to currently: Maybe You've Been Brainwashed, Too - New Radicals.
Most definitely stokeable and not just a one-hit wonder band (or two-hit, if you wish to say). Only one album (and two EPs) even available but worth the listen. Their sound is a bit different than most bands I think, which is why they've always stood out to me.
From their actual hits with "You Get What You Give" and "Mother We Can't Get Enough" you get that poppier, happy feel that hooks you in (which is why they were such great singles for the band). My favorite by them, though is "Someday We'll Know" which was featured in the movie A Walk to Remember, but it's still a great track no matter its ties to Mandy Moore (and the uber-hot Shane West ;D).
And since i don't want to get involved with anything illegal here, i'll just give a link to the video of "Someday We'll Know", which is a bit too 1998 for me right down to Gregg Alexander's bucket hat, but the song asks some pretty good questions (:

what i was listening to earlier today:
"Congratulations" (on So Far Gone mixtape) by Drake
GREAT track! Drake is actually Aubrey Graham who for several years played Jimmy Brooks on the Candian teen soap opera, Degrassi: The Next Generation (which I sadly have followed since the first season). For being on such an awful show, Graham's "flow is fresh" said previously mentioned Big Mac.
I've heard that Graham writes for Lil Wayne and I wouldn't be surprised, his shit's good and Weezy's the best of the best right now. First heard Drake through a friend suggesting "Ransom" by Lil Wayne which features him and was really just blown away. I'd never really been interested in listening to him prior to this because I knew of his background, but was just impressed by how real he sounded. Not that he shouldn't or anything, I guess but it was a more than I was expecting. And I'm glad it was.

(Link to the song is up above.)

so give me a suggestion! i'll probably try to start covering local bands so i can put actual mp3s hopefully on here and get the word out about bands not yet known (:
